I founded Vie Fit as result of having issues with my lower back, I woke one morning in a lot of pain and struggled to move my left leg as it was very numb. Initially I put this down to having slept funny and as I slowly went about my normal morning routine the pain eased, I went to work as normal. Over the next few days the pain, pins and needles and numbness would keep coming and going, on severe days I had to stop driving as the numb sensation was just too much and I could not feel the car pedals or even walk. After a few days I made an appointment to see the Doctor who gave the prognosis of Sciatica and sent me packing with pain killers and anti inflammatories.
Over the course of the next couple of years I suffered on and off with back issues, which affected my mental health, to add insult to injury my diet became the next hurdle as I could not seem to control my weight which had never been an issue.
I joined the local gym, got myself a Personal Trainer and focused my time on studying mental health, food, diet and exercise. Training was never the problem because I always enjoyed it, if I took a day off training then my body would rebel and anything up to 3 days could set her right back, Susan found her digestive system was not working properly, I was an emotional wreck, this cost me a relationship not only with someone else but importantly the one I had with herself.
A chance encounter gave me a new hope whilst all this was going on and this along with the support from her Personal Trainer led me to apply for a Fitness Instructor role at her gym and go to do her qualifications in Fitness Instructing, Personal Training, Nutrition and change my psychology studies to New and Neuro-Psychology, as well as taking courses in coaching and development.
Fast forward 2 years and I have managed to create a lifestyle fitness brand developed from my trauma to inspire hope and encourage natural therapies and treatment as alternatives to medicine where appropriate in order to claim back control of my own mental and physical wellbeing. I relentlessly study the various fields that build the bigger picture when it comes to understanding the body and the mind and I know I has developed a strong foundation for Vie fit to thrive which enables me to teach people how to better take care of themselves and empower them in their health, wellbeing and future pursuits.
Every client is a new lesson, every lesson adds to the knowledge I can then share and use to grow in my role as a trainer and coach.
I discovered Yoga was an effective way to help ease the lower back pain and digestive issues, within this route Pilates and Piyo have come up on my radar. Whilst I Enjoy’s cardio training I keep my resistance training functional using these techniques and occasionally adding in weight’s too. Everything I practice for myself I encourage in my clients, my focus and priorities are good posture, strong core, alignment and a good diet. It is not about extremes, or selling the latest protein boosting product, it is about learning about your physical and mental needs and learning how to feed and nurture them.
I am always tailoring my own nutrition and exercise to fit with the demands of my lifestyle and understand my tipping point. I do exactly the same for my client and have successfully helped clients who suffer from severe allergies find their catalysts which has empowered and helped them take back control over their bodies.
For Susan the search continues from a personal perspective, from a professional perspective Susan is excited about helping more and more clients re-claim themselves.
